PRO:
One of the league’s top young strong safeties and has started every game for the Titans in his first two NFL seasons. The Stanford graduate adapted to the Titans defense’s complicated coverage schemes with rare ease as a rookie and continued his impressive development in his second year. His two-year totals include 150 tackles, three interceptions and 15 passes defensed. He’s helped the team finish second in the NFL against the run in 2002 and first in the league in 2003. Williams possesses the strength, frame and hitting ability of a linebacker but has the speed of a cornerback, having been timed at 4.45 seconds in the 40 prior to being drafted. He was selected in the second round (45th overall) of the 2002 draft.

PERSONAL:
• Single, splits time between Nashville and Bay St. Louis, Miss.
• Named first-team All-District as junior and senior at Bay St. Louis HS (Miss.) playing both quarterback and safety. • Born Clevan Williams on June 30, 1980 in Gulfport, Miss.

TIDBITS:
• Although his first name is Clevan, Williams was nicknamed “Tank” growing up in Bay St. Louis, Miss., because he drank so much milk as a kid that his sister told his mother that she should “give him a tank of milk instead of a bottle.”
• He was never one to watch soap operas until he visited one of his relatives in New Orleans while on Christmas holidays from school. They watched “The Young and the Restless” that week and Williams eventually became a big fan. During the season he records the show at home or watches it at the team’s practice facility.
• While at Stanford, Williams took a statistics class with Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former president Bill Clinton and current senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.
